THE CATHOLIC CHURCH CONTINUES TO ABANDON BIBLICAL TRUTH

The British Newspaper, The Times, reported an alarming story on October 5th. The story was titled, "Catholic Church no longer swears by truth of the Bible".[i] The story reports that as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of Dei Verbum, the Second Vatican Council document which explains the role of Scripture in God's revelation, the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church has published a new document titled The Gift of Scripture that instructs parishioners to be aware that certain parts of the Bible are not actually historically true.
According to The Times, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor and Cardinal Keith O'Brien, the two most senior Catholics of Great Britain wrote the forward to the document. They say that those who study Scripture should not expect to find "total accuracy" in the Bible. The Cardinals also state, "We should not expect to find in Scripture full scientific accuracy or complete historical precision." As an example of this position, The Gift of Scripture tells believers that the first 11 chapters of Genesis should not be considered "historical", but at best they may contain "historical traces". This document makes it clear that the Catholic Church's position on Genesis 1-11 is that these chapters provide religious teaching, but they should not be described as historical records. The document states, "We should not expect total accuracy from the Bible in other, secular matters."
With the publishing of this document, the Catholic Church has continued in their long tradition of abandoning biblical truth. It was in 1547 AD at the Council of Trent that the Catholic Church replaced biblical authority with the man-made traditions of the Church[ii], thereby denying many central biblical teachings like Ephesians 2:8-9[iii] and Hebrews 10:10 & 14[iv]. Now the Catholic Church has continued in its practice of denying biblical truth by adding this teaching that "We should not expect to find in Scripture full scientific accuracy or complete historical precision."
I can imagine that much of the motivation for taking this position comes from a desire to remain relevant to those who've bought into the popular, but false idea of billions of years of evolution. However, this is a sadly misguided strategy. First of all, it is sad because there is simply no need to try to accommodate the creation account of Genesis to the flawed man-made theory of evolution. There's simply no solid evidence for macroevolution, whether you add God to the equation or not. Secondly, it is misguided because the Catholic Church is creating a precedent whereby anytime popular opinion goes against Scriptural teaching, the Church may simply cave in to the pressure. I don't think I need to elaborate any further on the dangers of where this could lead.
The Catholic Church is making a tremendous mistake in allowing popular opinion to dictate their view of what is and is not historical and true in Scripture. Could this be evidence of the end-times apostasy that Paul warned us about? In 2 Timothy 4:3-4, Paul said, "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." Is this not what the Catholic Church has done here? They aren't even trying to be subtle in their error; they've come out in this new document and openly stated that the Bible cannot be trusted as fully accurate and historical.
I can't help but think that the Catholic Church has strayed a long way from the bold and uncompromising biblical prophets of old… but then again, maybe the prophets of old don't live up to the Catholic Church's standards of "complete historical precision".

[ii] The official Catholic position is that Church tradition was elevated to equal status with biblical revelation. However, placing man-made traditions on an equal footing with God's word is essentially the same thing as replacing biblical authority with man-made traditions. For as we've seen throughout history, whenever Scripture doesn't agree with the Church's current perspective on a given issue, the Church simply has the luxury of ignoring the biblical teaching by citing their own man-made traditions.

After reading all the posts here and on "Pope says prostestants are not real christians" this came to my mind.
It really doesn't matter if we " win or lose " the debate here . What is important is what happens when we stand before the throne of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Eternity is a long, long time. Every person alone is responsible for him or herself, nobody is going to come to our aid . God gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us and we need to read the bible and ask the Holy Spirit to instruct us in the way of salvation and truth. This is serious business .

Again you are trying to sell false merchandise. The Catholic church actually performs less exorcisms that either Bible Believing Christians BBC, or even Muslim clerics. Shaman perform exorcisms daily around the world, as do Voodoo practitioners, and all forms of the occult, witchcraft and black magic adherents.
Not being grounded, founded, or surrounded by the true Gospel, and knowledge of the true Jesus Christ…but rather based upon Satan….The Catholic church can appear to perform exorcisms because of this demonic fact. The Satanic empire has a hierarchy…a pecking order…existing of Powers, Principalities and Rulers…of this dark world.Eph.6. IN order to fool people, and cause it to “look” as if they are of God….a demon filled priest can order a lesser demon out of an individual and that lesser demon must capitulate. In order to give the appearance-deceive people into believing that the RCC is of God… IT is not. Yet, that way the “house of Satan” is not divided…(which would cause it to fall) on the contrary the order and control, and global network, and money, and vast wealth, and control over world leaders, and control over all secret societies is PROOF that the House of Satan…the Catholic Church is alive and well…
According the Word of God, we Bible believing Christians are all called to cast out demons. IN fact in Mark 9:38 the disciples are in a huff, because they come across "one casting out demons who is not one of us." Jesus says to let Him be if he is using my name. IN every instance of casting out demons it always done in the of Jesus.
Do the Catholic hierarchy have sole authority over the name of Jesus? They would say of course we do....but remember also that in Matt 7:22 Jesus stated that "in that day many shall come to me and say didn’t I cast out demons in your name, and I will say depart from me I never knew you." Describes priests before Christ at the throne of judgment.
I, JKK, have seen demons cast out of people in many places including a street corner during a hunger feed in a major US metropolitan city...by a evangelical pastor. Incredible to see one set free… like that.
Never does Jesus explain that demons can only leave through an extended elaborate display of prolonged rituals and readings from manmade dogmas….as in the Roman Catholic church. IT is simple and quick and demands ONLY the name of Jesus.
I would venture to say as many as 10-20 times more demons are casted out by Bible Believing Christians., than the ridiculous governmental red tape of the Vatican process of determining who is a viable candidate for a Catholic sanctioned ceremonial ritual. CAST IT OUT! NOW! IN Jesus name!
The problem with Vatican sanctioned casting out of demons is...they get it wrong sometimes. There is testimony that bible believing Christians had to be called in on more than one occasion….to the Vatican because Papal minions where trying to use the name of saints and priest and Mary, and popes to cast out a certain demon....and like the Sons of Sceva, they were unable to vanquish the demon. So a Bible Believing Christian was called in to school the Vatican on proper Gospel protocol on the removal of demons.
Even more troubling regarding the Vatican and demons was the "reverse exorcism" that Vatican officials and Pope Paul VI performed in 1963 when they performed a ceremony actually inviting Satan to come into the Vatican and to take over control of the Roman Catholic Church. This of course was documented in Malachi Martin's book "Windswept House" Malachi Martin was the Vatican’s top exorcist as well as a Jesuit priest. Paul VI was shortly after quoted as saying..." The smoke of Satan has entered the Vatican." Which is odd, because I believe the RCC to have always been controlled by Satan. It is Satan's church on Earth....

So whether one believes in Creation or not, a Catholic always can believe that the Pope and his minions created the direction mainstream Science in general is heading.

In your research have you ever discovered any evidence that the Roman Catholic Church was ever pure and not apostate? I heard someone say that the RCC cannot be labeled a cult because it used to be orthodox, but instead should be called apostate instead.
