Today's Show: CHRISTIAN MARTYRS
Chris discusses the bombing of a Coptic Church in Cairo, Egypt where some 25 believers (mostly women and children) were killed by an Islamic attack. The story is but one of many examples of persecution and hatred against Christians by the Islamic world. But what does the Scripture tell us about persecution for the name of Jesus Christ?

I am little confused .. according to the Coptic "Christian" beliefs it doesn't line up with true Christianity:
Members of the Coptic Christian Church believe both God and man play roles in salvation, God through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ and humans through works of merit, such as fasting, almsgiving, and receiving the sacraments.
Founded in the first century in Egypt, the Coptic Christian Church shares many beliefs and practices with the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Church. "Coptic" is derived from a Greek term meaning "Egyptian."
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Hi Chris,
"Coptic Christians" seem to generally hold to a different gospel than scripture declare, a gospel of grace plus works. Of course we do not know their hearts and if some are truly born again. As I've been watching all these Middle East Christians suffering persecution and death as a result of their faith. I wonder if I would be so willing to lay down my life as they have? I personally admire their strength and courage and believe it can only come from a devotion, trust and love empowered by Christ. Who would die for Christ if they didn't have an eternal hope in His saving and redeeming and resurrection power. Who would die for empty religion, maybe some. Obviously they must truly love our Lord and believe His promises. I remember one who gave his bible to an ISIS fighter before he was murdered. The ISIS fighter kept and read the bible and was converted. Amazing testimonies coming out of the Middle East!
