Today's Show: DANIEL, DOMINIONISM & PROPHECY
Chris continues his discussion on Bible prophecy, reviewing Daniel chapter seven with the conflict between the saints and the powers of antichrist. Also discussed is the issue of dominionism. What is dominion theology? What Scriptures are used to defend it? And how does this interpretation of prophetic events differ from what is generally believed about the Return of our Lord Jesus Christ?

Chris,
Thanks for all of your efforts to inform and educate. I am an avid listener and love your show and films!
I have been studying and teaching prophecy for many years and I wanted to encourage you to continue developing your Historicist perspective of Bible prophecy.
Both Futurism and Preterism are systems of interpretation developed by a series of Jesuit priests (Francisco Ribera, Robert Bellarmine, Manuel De Lacunza, Luis del Alcázar) in the 16th and 17th centuries. Among their goals was the desire to counter arguments of the Historicists who taught that the papal Roman empire was the system of antichrist. Futurism did not gain any traction until John Nelson Darby in the 19th century and Cyrus Scofield in the 20th century and I believe Rome was very much behind the success of their efforts.
You mentioned your struggle with the futurist timeline. Both Futurists and Preterists teach that prophetic "days" are literal days. For this reason there are only two ways to reconcile them. They either already occurred in the past or they will occur in the future. Both approaches not only defy logic and common sense but they take the life out of these prophetic scriptures. Isn't it strange that we are closer to the end than ever before but there has never been more ignorance and confusion about bible prophecy? Is this God's design? We were told in Daniel 12:10 that the wise would understand these teachings but no modern commentary can provide an explanation for the 1290 & 1335 days reference in Daniel 12:11-12.
Historicists recognized that prophetic "days" are years. Bible scholars like Thomas Newton, Robert Milligan, and Adam Clarke wrote hundreds of years ago that the 2300 day prophecy of Daniel 8 was to be fulfilled in 1967. They were simply living in a time when these prophecies were "sealed." But they were "unsealed" in 1948 & 1967. It is only through the Historicist approach that these prophecies can be understood and reconciled. When you do this you will finally have an objective way to interpret these scriptures and prophecy comes alive!
