Today's Show: GENERAL ROBERT E. LEE & HIS SLAVES - 8.25.2017

Chris discusses some of the current controversies surrounding Civil War monuments, in particular, those of General Robert E. Lee.  The left has fanatically demanded the removal of statues honoring Lee because he was a former slave owner who served in the Confederate Army during the war.  While the radical leftists claim his memory is offensive to the black community, was this the case in the 19th century?  We consider the testimony of Rev. William Mack Lee, who was the body servant of General Lee, and who served as his cook during the Civil War.  In his autobiography, he wrote: "I was raised by one of the greatest men in the world.  There was never one born of a woman greater than Gen. Robert E. Lee, according to my judgment."  The former slave declared that the general had freed his slaves some ten years before the Civil War, yet they all chose to remain on the plantation.  After General Lee's death in 1870, his former servant received an inheritance and used the money to pursue his education and later work as a Christian minister.
