NOTR - The Critical Text - 9.2.16

Today's Show: THE CRITICAL TEXT

Chris continues his discussion of the new documentary, "Bridge to Babylon," this time exploring the indefensible arguments in favor of the Critical Text as somehow representing the inerrant Word of God.  By the admission of leading scholars, the chief critical editions of the Greek text disagree more than 30% of the time, showing a variant rate that calls much of the New Testament into question.  Is it this element of modern textual criticism that has put many sincere Christians in the position of defending the indefensible?  While attempting to convince others that the Scriptures are inerrant, Critical Text believers must also justify the overwhelming number of inconsistencies found in what is called the "oldest and best" manuscript evidence.  Yet among traditional text manuscripts (which represent the overwhelming majority) the rate of agreement is better than 99%.

NOTR - Bridge to Babylon - 9.1.16

Today's Show: BRIDGE TO BABYLON

Chris discusses the new documentary: "Bridge to Babylon: Rome, Ecumenism & the Bible."  Perhaps the chief threat to the faith once delivered unto the saints is the ongoing attack against the Bible as the inspired and inerrant Word of God.  "Bridge" traces the history of the modern critical movement from the time of Westcott and Hort who changed the text of the New Testament in 1881.  They are often blamed for helping to usher in a new era of Biblical skepticism, and many believe that the acceptance of their textual theory has systematically eroded trust in the infallible authority Scripture.  Also discussed is some of the history of paleography and its development by the Church of Rome.  Why is paleography important?  And was it developed by Rome as part of the Counter Reformation?

NOTR - The Gospel & The Lost - 8.26.16

Today's Show: THE GOSPEL & THE LOST

Chris discusses Paul's second letter to the Corinthians, where he says that "... if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost ..." (2 Cor. 4:3)  He goes on to declare that the "god of this world" has blinded those who do not believe.  What are some of the instruments of unbelief that we find in modern times?  Also discussed is the new film, "Bridge to Babylon" and the subject of modern textual criticism.  Can it be said that modern critics are often guilty of inspiring questions and doubts about whether or not the Bible is truly the Word of God?

NOTR - Judaism, Gnosticism & The Gospel - 8.24.16

Today's Show: JUDAISM, GNOSTICISM & THE GOSPEL

Chris continues his discussion about the Apostle Paul's warning concerning those who come preaching another Jesus and another Gospel.  In his second letter to the Corinthian Church, Paul reveals that the false teachers he confronts are Hebrews and Israelites.  How is it that their teaching was compared to the serpent's lie in the Garden of Eden?  The record of Scripture gives us clues about the history of Jewish apostasy in the Old Testament, as the children of Israel fell into idolatry.  At the same time, some modern histories trace Jewish Gnosticism to a pre-Christian era.  Was the apostle Paul warning about "Jewish Gnostics" in the first century?

NOTR - Jesuits & Education - 8.23.16

Today's Show: JESUITS & EDUCATION

Chris discusses some of the history of the Jesuit Order and their working through the education system of various countries.  In the United States there are some 28 Jesuit colleges and universities.  In centuries past, the order was known for subverting Protestant cultures by conditioning them in the schools and turning their hearts towards Romanism.  Is it possible that the same subversive elements are at work in the education system of America?

NOTR - Paul & The Other Jesus - 8.22.16

Today's Show: PAUL & THE OTHER JESUS

Chris discusses the Apostle Paul's second letter to the Corinthians, where he warns of those who might come preaching "another Jesus."  Paul clearly associated this deception with that of the serpent in the Garden of Eden.  He goes on to warn of "false apostles" and warns that while they present themselves as "ministers of Christ," they are in fact the ministers of Satan.  This powerful warning to the Church is just as relevant today as it was in the first century.
