NOTR - South Africa Votes to Confiscate Land from Whites - 3.9.18

Today's Show: SOUTH AFRICA VOTES TO CONFISCATE LAND FROM WHITES  - 3.9.2018

Chris discusses the latest development in the ongoing struggle of Christians in the country of South Africa.  Since the end of Apartheid during the time of Nelson Mandela, race relations have been strained and on the brink of disaster.  Since Mandela's death, the attacks against the white farmers, who are routinely raped, robbed and murdered, is said to be a daily tragedy.  Now the government has declared that it will confiscate all land from the white population, while one South African politician has said: "We are cutting the throat of whiteness."  Many believe the fragile country is on the brink of a civil war.

NOTR - Catholics, Protestants & Transubstantiation - 3.5.18

Today's Show: CATHOLICS, PROTESTANTS & TRANSUBSTANTIATION  - 3.5.2018

Chris discusses a new story developing within the Catholic Church. While proponents of the Ecumenical movement have repeatedly attempted to argue that Evangelicals believe the same thing as Roman Catholics, the more traditional Cardinal Ludwig Muller says that partaking in the Catholic communion service is still "closed" to Protestants. The story is a reminder of the deep doctrinal differences between Evangelicals and Rome that date back to the great Reformation. During the Inquisition era, the doctrine of transubstantiation (the idea that the communion host becomes the literal presence of Christ) was the number one reason "heretics" were arrested and condemned. Also discussed are stories pertaining to the recent push for more gun control along with the current attacks against the Second Amendment.

NOTR - Billy Graham, Nigeria & Viktor Orban - 2.23.18

Today's Show: BILLY GRAHAM, NIGERIA & VIKTOR ORBAN  - 2.23.2018

In a special one hour program, Chris discusses a series of news events across the globe. At the age of 99, world famous evangelist, Billy Graham has passed away. His legacy in the Christian community is one of controversy, since Graham was often criticized in the Protestant world for his relationship to Rome and to apostate ministers who clearly denied the Gospel. Also discussed is the persecution of believers in Nigeria who have suffered a wave of attacks against more than a dozen Christian villages, while the government refuses to protect them. In 2015, the formerly Christian president of Nigeria was replaced by a radical Muslim, which was said to be due to the influence of the Obama administration. Also, the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who professes to be a believer in the Reformed Christian faith, has called for a Global Anti-Migrant Alliance. Orban has also declared that "Christianity" is Europe's last hope.

NOTR - Turkey & The Invasion of Modern Greece - 2.21.18

Today's Show: TURKEY & THE INVASION OF MODERN GREECE - 2.21.2018

Chris discusses a new story from the Gatestone Institute about the likely future invasion of the Greek Islands by Turkey. Turkish President Erdogan declared that they are planning greater attacks in the coming days and are "obsessed" with invading and conquering the Greek islands. The ambition of the Turkish government seems to be the desire to reclaim territory they occupied during the Ottoman Empire, despite the fact that the territories in question belonged to the Greeks more than a thousand years before the Ottoman era. According to the Gatestone article, the plan of the Turkish government is to "invade and take over 18 Greek islands" in a move that would parallel the invasion of Cyprus in 1974.

NOTR - Jesuits, Evangelicals & Immigration - 2.17.18

Today's Show: JESUITS, EVANGELICALS & IMMIGRATION - 2.17.2018

Chris discusses a new story about a collection of female evangelicals who appear in a video titled "I was a stranger" based on a reading of Matthew 25:31-46.  The video suggests that to reject immigrants (legal or illegal) is to be guilty of not welcoming the stranger, as Jesus commands to do.  Interestingly, this same approach is used by the Jesuit Order in their America Magazine, where in 2017 they made the same argument with an article titled, "I was a stranger and you did not welcome me."  They also make reference to the journey of Mary and Joseph going to Bethlehem before the birth of Christ -- but did they arrive as illegal aliens?  Or were they actually obeying the laws of the government at that time?  And what does it really mean to be a stranger in the context of Matthew 25?

NOTR - Luther & The Doctrine of Baptismal Regeneration - 2.14.18

Today's Show: LUTHER & THE DOCTRINE OF BAPTISMAL REGENERATION - 2.14.2018

Chris answers an important email from one of our listeners who asked if Martin Luther believed the doctrine of Baptismal Regeneration. The doctrine (typically based on Mark 16:16) claims that water baptism is necessary for salvation. But is this what Luther believed? Some make reference to the Lutheran catechism, but it may be that the best answers come from Luther himself.  An examination of the Reformer's teachings as recorded in the work of Ewald M. Plass provides tremendous insight.
